Biography

Molly and Aurélien de Saint André are Moho Designs, a design studio and artistic duo that creates contemporary hand made and hand printed products.  With a focus in printmaking and graphic design, they design and print textiles and original works on paper.  Their latest venture is a natural clothing company for babies and children called Petit Pilou in which their original fresh fabric patterns are handprinted onto sustainable fabrics and locally sewn into innovative clothing solutions for babies and children.

Artist Statement

We were looking for a way to visually document the collection of things that represent winter in the Berkshires.  The list of items spanned all categories—personal things, tools, animals that stick around during the cold, food and drink, etc.  Because these things were so various, we felt that the best way to tie them together visually was to reduce them to simple, hand cut black lines.  These paper cuts were done with an xacto knife on black paper, and then mounted on archival paper and placed in shadow box style frames.  We used the images from these paper cuts to create our Everything Winter: The Berkshires poster, the first in our new series of 4 seasonal posters about The Berkshires.
